Jarod infiltrates a white supremacist group in Georgia, intending to keep them from disrupting a unity rally put on by Pastor Malcolm Jones of the Westland Community Church. He isn't aware that Efram Bartlett, the corrupt marine patrol officer from the Florida Everglades whom he sent to prison for murder and civil rights violations three years earlier ("Keys"), had been released on technicalities and is the group's unseen "General."
When Bartlett joins the group the night before the Rally, he quickly recognizes Jarod but makes the mistake of trusting the number one man in his organization to take Jarod out to the woods and shoot him. Luke, Bartlett's elite "apostle," is actually an undercover cop for the Georgia State Police. He fakes Jarod's death, freeing Jarod to ambush Bartlett when he goes to the church to plant a homemade bomb of C-4 and Napalm. Bartlett is sent to the Georgia State Penitentiary, where he is unlikely to be set free again.
While Miss Parker, Broots and Sydney can do nothing but watch and wait, Angelo suffers through the horrors of three years worth of Jarod's Pretends as he uses his empathic abilities to find out which of Jarod's former adversaries is planning on killing him.
Angelo finally comes upon the rope netting that Jarod used to trap Bartlett in Florida and knows then that it is Bartlett who hates both Jarod and Miss Parker enough to kill them. Broots manages to find out that Bartlett is in Georgia, but when the trio arrives on the day of the Unity Rally, Pastor Jones knows nothing about Jarod. Miss Parker, Sydney and Broots don't realize that if they had only looked up as they left, they would have seen Jarod sitting atop the church, near the steeple, wearing a white suit and swaying to the rhythm of the gospel music from inside.
